A Nation where all children are cared for in a good way and families have the support to raise happy and healthy children who have a strong foundation and connections to our nkshAytkn (relations), our tmix (land), and our ways of being as Nlaka’pamux.
We honour a shared obligation to the children of today and the children of tomorrow by providing and advocating for community-driven, Nlaka’pamux-centred child and family development programs and services.
Our principles and values underpin all our work to support our Nation’s children and families and ensure that our programs reflect who we are as Nlaka’pamux people.

Dear Families, Friends, and Community Leaders
We are pleased to provide you with an update that reflects our ongoing commitment to our community. As of April 2022, a mere seven months after the devastating Lytton Creek Wildfire that destroyed the village, homes, buildings and several reserves of the Lytton First Nation, Nzen’man’ has successfully mobilized to re-establish 54 child care spaces. This accomplishment was no small feat and underscores our dedication to serving our community during these challenging times. Much thanks to our staff and the Stein Valley Nlaka’pamux School and School District #74 for sharing their spaces with us so we can provide care to our littlest shchEma-mee.tkt (children).
In addition to re-establishing child care services, our Early Years and Aboriginal Supported Child Development Staff in both Lytton and Merritt Areas, continue to offer home visiting programs, including support for pre and post-natal care. These vital services ensure that families receive the support they need when they need it most.
Furthermore, we are proud to announce our collaboration with Bands and Organizations across the Nation. Together, we are working diligently to organize a variety of drop-in and family events, fostering a sense of togetherness within our community.
The past few years have brought forth a series of profound challenges within our Nlaka’pamux Nation. The pandemic, the devastating Lytton Creek Fire, the regional floods, the Nohomin Fire and most recently the Kookipi, Ponderosa, and Stein Mountain Fires of 2023 have left a lasting impact on every aspect of our lives and that of our children. Amidst these hardships, we have continued to make progress on the Nzen'man' Birds Nest Project (insert as hyperlink) that will house all of Nzen’man’s programs and more. This Project emerges as a beacon of hope, symbolizing our unwavering resilience and serving as a living embodiment of reconciliation in action and creating safe spaces that honour our children as the centre of our communities and the hearts of our Nations future. We want you to know that Nzen’man’ remains steadfast in our commitment to building a new facility while continuing to deliver essential services during these trying times.
If you require any assistance or have questions, please feel free to contact us at anytime.
Your continued support means the world to us, and together, we will navigate these challenges and emerge stronger as a community.
